Ruben Garcia (i) (Advocacy Alliance)

Ruben Garcia Photo

My name is Ruben Garcia, I am a proud first generation and former foster youth student. I’m pursuing a major in Business Administration with a focus on Information Systems Technology, and I plan to earn a minor in Computer Science. I serve as VP of Student life for our current Student Government Assembly, VP of the Business & Economics Club, Liaison for the Rotaract Club and involved with various other clubs! Outside of school, I’ve established a personal bartending business where I handle every aspect of operations, from bartending and event coordination to management. Additionally, I’m employed at Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital as a Telemetry Technician working diligently alongside Nurses and Cardiologists. Some hobbies of mine are making social connections, trying different foods, and learning more about the world.

I’m running for Student Body President because I firmly believe that my qualifications make me ideal for the position. With my experience, I bring a distinct perspective that resonates with SRJC’s mission, vision, and values. As a leader and representative of the student body, my primary goals would be to advocate for the mental health of college students, enrich campus life through engaging events and activities aimed at enhancing the student experience. I strive to create a supportive environment where even the most committed students can enjoy school-based activities and ensure that all of our school’s tools and resources are available and easily accessible to those in need. Every student faces unique challenges, I’m committed to listening, advocating, and representing the diverse needs of our community. Vote for Ruben Garcia 2024.

Executive Vice President

Elizabeth Cole

Elizabeth Cole Photo
As your candidate for Executive Vice President of Legislation, I, Elizabeth Cole stand ready to champion the spirit and needs of SRJC at the Student Senate for California Community Colleges (SSCCC). My journey, deeply rooted in service and advocacy, is bolstered by firsthand legislative experience at the Capitol and the legacy of my grandmother, a dedicated legislator. This unique blend of personal engagement in the legislative process and familial dedication to public service has equipped me with a profound understanding of policy-making and advocacy.

Within SRJC and beyond, I’ve committed myself to promoting diversity, inclusivity, and academic excellence. My roles have not only been titles but platforms for real change—advocating for an Ethnic Studies Department and contributing to the creation of the Intercultural Center. These experiences underscore my ability to lead, advocate, and unify our community on a larger scale.

In my capacity as EVP of Legislation, I pledge to bridge SRJC’s aspirations with the broader educational and legislative agenda, ensuring our voice is a leading one in shaping policies that impact community colleges statewide. My mission is to enhance communication, mentor future leaders within the College Wide Committee system, and foster a united SRJC that champions inclusivity and equality across all campuses.

Drawing on my Capitol experience and the legislative wisdom passed down from my grandmother, I am uniquely positioned to navigate the complexities of statewide advocacy, translating our collective vision into actionable policies that elevate our educational experience.

Let's unite under a banner of progress, inclusivity, and excellence. With your support, we can transform SRJC into a beacon of student advocacy and leadership. Vote Elizabeth Cole for Executive Vice President of Legislation, and together, we’ll forge a brighter, more inclusive future for our college.

Anne Donnelly (Student Voice Alliance)

Anne Donnelly Photo

Hi! My name is Annie Donnelly. I graduated from San Marin High School in 2023. After receiving dual associates in Philosophy and Political Science next spring, I plan to continue my education at a four-year institution. I’ve consistently worked as a cook, a daycare employee, and at numerous non-profit organizations while balancing school and my personal life. In high school, I participated in our student union, Gender/Sexuality awareness group, and the Ethics and Philosophy competition. My wide range of extracurricular experiences has allowed me to empathize deeply with our complex student body. SRJC holds many generations of students; whether you’re striving to be an artist, farmer, student, healthcare worker, first responder, or cook, we all share a collective ambition to be educated. I empathize with all students who work hard to achieve their goals. Our hard work should never be misspent, and I want to ensure we don’t become victims of the education system. As Executive Vice President of Student Government, my goal is simple: While representing the interests of all students and communities, I will protect our rights and make sure our voices are heard!

Mason Koski (i) (BearCub Leader Union)

Mason Koski Photo

Hi! My name is Mason Koski, and I am running to continue to be your SGA Executive Vice President! As the EVP is the principle advocate for students needs, wants, and concerns to the administration, local elected officals, and statewide leaders I take my job with a deep understanding of it's importance. I've had the opportunity to advocate for many different issues on the Local and Statewide Level, including Affordable Student Housing, Discounted/Zero Cost Textbook Courses, Expansion of Services at Student Health Centers, Free Bus Passes, Improving the Quality/Lowering the Cost of Food in School Cafeterias, Fixing Campus Infrastructure, Increasing Funding for Food Pantries & Clothing Closets & Basic Needs as a Whole, Student Aid Reform, and More. I know how to work well with the folks that make the important decisions that effect us, and I'm thankful that the SGA chose to Unanimously Appoint me as your EVP for the 2023-2024 School Year because of my accomplishments, experience, and deep understanding of what Student Gov is the important role we serve. Personally as a Mixed-Race, Queer, DRD Student I've always understood the importance of having leaders that can relate to my life experiences. I was shaped by my grandparents who taught me the importance of giving back to our communities and trying to make a difference in the world, and that's precisely why I'm wanting to go into Public Policy or Non-Profit Work or Education as a career, and maybe one day running for Elected Office. Simply put, all people deserve good representation, and based on what I know I've done and what I've been told, I think I've done a good job so far. It would be an honor to continue to represent ya'll and fight for the things that matter to you most, I appreciate your time.

Vice President of Finance

Connor Murray

Connor Murray Photo

My name is Connor Murray, and I am a new student here at the SRJC majoring in Business Administration with a focus on Finance. Currently, I serve as the Public Relations manager of the Business and Economics Club, on the Finance and Benefits Committee, and am a member of other clubs such as Phi Theta Kappa and the Political Science Club. Outside of School, I enjoy doing community service projects, such as when I assembled three wooden composting boxes to replace older, plastic ones for the Ceres Project in Sebastopol, and otherwise meeting new people, trying new things, and spending time outdoors. I’m running for Vice President of Finance to both gain new experience, and use my prior experiences to promote and finance programs that are in the best interest of the student body, including mental health support, expanded academic services for all levels, and sustainability around campus. I believe in servant leadership and will do everything that I can to make sure each student has what they need to reach their highest potential.

Vice President of Clubs - Santa Rosa

Andrew Simmalaychanh (i)

Andrew Photo

Hello everyone! I’m Andrew Simmalaychanh, the current Vice President of Clubs, running for re-election into the position for the upcoming school year. Clubs are the most prominent student-led organizations on campus and SRJC is no stranger to having a wide variety of clubs always hosting all kinds of events, like club days, and uplifting our college community. While there is only one position for the VP of Clubs, it takes a whole room of dedicated student leaders in the Inter-Club Council (the ICC for short) to keep club life on campus active. I have the experience and skills to run the ICC, and as the VP of Clubs, I will do my best to continue supporting all clubs on campus and make sure there is a space for everyone in SRJC Clubs. Thank you for considering me and I hope you have a nice day!

I was born and raised in Santa Rosa, and I am a Santa Rosa Middle School and Santa Rosa High School alumuns. I first attended SRJC in 2007 during senior year. After graduating high school and entering the work force, I discovered that my passion is in marketing. I have creditials to fulfill this role, thanks to leadership and marketing positions from past work experience.

Implementing prize pool giveaways for plus members is also one of my goals. When determining our long-term career goals, passion and knowledge is key to understanding what it is... that sparks us. Tiffany Nguyen Photo

Hi everyone! My name is Tiffany Nguyen, and I am honored to be running for the position of Vice President of Marketing in our student government. I am currently employed as a Peer Assisted Learning Specialist (PALS) in Calculus at SRJC, which allows me to interact daily and support students with a diverse range of skills and abilities. Additionally, I hold the positions of Co-President and Vice President in two clubs on campus, giving me a deep understanding and sympathy for all JC students as well as leadership and communication skills.

With gratitude for the JC and qualifications in Marketing gained through serving as a Marketing Intern for two organizations, my goal is to ensure that every student feels heard and connected to the JC by being well-informed about all the resources we offer here. I want to prioritize allocating funds towards student and staff needs, while preserving existing support systems such as CalFresh or free school supplies. As your Vice President of Marketing, I promise to listen to your ideas, concerns, and feedback. I believe that together, we can build a supportive environment where no one is left behind! Thank you so much for your support! Vote for me!

I absolutely enjoy doing Marketing work for SGA and supporting student activities through campaign management and promotion. I was the prior V.P. of Marketing for Santa Rosa from late Fall 2022, to our present Spring 2024. I have had a lot of prior experience working in marketing, from an intern to a whole marketing manager. I cannot stress enough how much I actually enjoy this role and supporting our school and students internally. I would also like to see current campaigns have their full effect this coming semester. Thank you!

Vice President of Marketing - Petaluma

Emily Marian (Student Voice Alliance)

Emily Marian Photo

My name is Emily Marian and I am running for VP of Marketing for the Petaluma campus. I am eager to increase the quality of our student experience. I am currently studying Business Administration and I hope to go into the marketing field. Marketing became my passion after taking a marketing course here at the JC. This was the first time I felt completely engaged in what I was studying, and I have a great interest in how people think and particularly why they make decisions.

I have been at SRJC for four semesters now, and I have gained a considerable understanding of our students at both the Santa Rosa and Petaluma campuses. As VP of Marketing for the Petaluma campus, I will bring in more discounts for our CubCard Premium members. We already have so many great benefits with the membership such as free admission to our wonderful Petaluma Cinema Series and 10% off textbooks during the first two weeks of the semester. It has been shocking to me the amount of students that either don’t know about the CubCard Premium perks or do not use their membership to its full extent. I plan on working with local off campus businesses to partner with us and give our students even more discounts and fun opportunities.

I am exceedingly devoted to helping fellow students and further developing our student experience. Vote Emily Marian for VP of Marketing for the Petaluma Campus.

Vice President of Diversity

Monzerrat Morales (Student Voice Alliance)

Monzerrat Morales Photo
My name is Monzerrat Morales and I am a first generation Latina student majoring in Kinesiology. I am running for Vice President of Diversity. I saw the impacts of financial, educational and language barriers my parents faced as they assimilated to the U.S. culture. Through these struggles, the cultural values of helping others in need, being a hard worker and perseverance became deeply rooted in my veins. Being involved within my community through social activism by Latino Service Providers, !Dale¡ and Los Cien, I saw the impact of health disparities, housing insecurity, and educational inequalities happening in communities of color. Social advocacy is essential for underserved and communities of color to create social change and an equitable future for generations to come. I want to contribute and bring hope for students that lack support and resources to ensure an equitable and inclusive environment for all. I hope you can join in creating this possible at SRJC.

Vice President of Student Health

Kathryn Leigh Viduya (Advocacy Alliance)

Kathryn Viduya Photo

Hello! My name is Kathryn Viduya, and I am excited to be running for Vice President of Student Health at the Santa Rosa Junior College. I strongly believe that student success comes from prioritizing wellness needs from within. As a nursing major, I have always been passionate about healthcare and ensuring the well-being of those around me.

I am committed to working closely with Student Health Services to enhance access to local resources, streamline those services, and advocate for initiatives to support wellness for students. It is my goal to help students feel empowered to make informed decisions about their health by providing them with programs to educate them about various different aspects of wellness and healthcare. I aim to serve as a resource to support students' health needs- be it physical or mental. As conversations about mental health become more normalized, I want to continue this momentum by cultivating a community of support and compassion.

By listening to your needs and ideas, I strive to create a safe and inclusive atmosphere where every student feels like they have a voice and, most importantly, have a support system to rely on. I believe that by prioritizing our health and spreading compassion, we can thrive as a community.

Sovandaily A Ong

Sovandaily Ong Photo

Hi, I’m Sovandaily Ong but I go by Alyza which is my middle name. I’m majoring in Business administration and my goal is to be an entrepreneur. I’m an ambivert person so of course a chill one.  I am an international student from Cambodia. I am part of the international student club. I choose to be part of student health because I want to learn and help out in the medical industry. I am an organized person so I think I can help out a lot. I am a listener so I think more because I want to find the best solution or better idea if something happens. I'm more responsible on time because I have my journal for my daily life. I love going to the gym and learning about nutrition so I think I might have some clues to help out in that field. I want to learn and take all the opportunities because I want to have a bright future. I’m not a fast learner but I do learn and practice more. I feel like the more mistakes that I make, the more ideas I will get. People make mistakes, and so do I. There is nothing wrong with it as long as I am not giving up on my dream. I want to have financial stability and be able to help my parents in the future. I have a lot of dreams but one of my dreams is to help other poor kids change their bad mindset because there are a lot of opportunities everywhere, furthermore, I want to share some information that I have learned over here with them. Being an entrepreneur is hard because I need to put in a lot of work and time, especially my skills.

Vice President of Sustainability

Ashlyn Rogers

Ashlyn Rogers Photo
Hello! My name is Ashlyn Rogers, this is my second year at SRJC and I am running to be your Vice President of Sustainability. I am majoring in political science and when I transfer I plan to major in political science with a focus on sustainability and environmental policy/politics. Climate change is a present issue, not something that might happen in the future, but something we are experiencing right now. It is a problem that will not be fixed unless we make an effort to do something, and that is what I am working to do. Along with my recognition of the problem, I also have a passion for all things related to the environment, including but not limited to ecosystems, animals, people, etc., and without us fighting to make a change, everyone will have to deal with the consequences of climate change. With this position I will strive to make real changes at SRJC, holding the school accountable for continuing to find sustainable solutions, along with giving students an accurate perspective of what is going on. There are viable solutions to the challenges we face today, but the first and foremost solution is to simply be open and talk about the issues we are facing instead of turning away and saying it's a problem for the future. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to be your Vice President of Sustainability and I am committed to doing the work it takes to make SRJC and our community a more environmentally aware and sustainable place. Thank you for considering me for this position!

Ann Shippey

Ann Shippey Photo

My goals as V.P. of Sustainability, would be to fulfill my job responsibilities with prudence and a love of the Natural World as well as the governing process. My goals would be to work well with others, listening, seeking new avenues of Sustainability, to better the health and well being of the environment and thus each student, at home or in school. My goals would have to be prompt and attend all meetings, bringing timely issues to the table, and also I hope to learn the ways of how funding works. Hopefully find the ways and means to successfully meet our Sustainability agenda. Also, do my homework, taking in to account all the various agencies and governmental bodies around the county, and how they attack Climate Warming, Recycling, Food Waste, single use plastics, and ultimately lead the Junior College into a circular economy, where resources are used intelligently without squandering money or time.

Aria Balador (BearCub Leader Union)

Aria Balador Photo

Hello! My name is Aria Balador, and this is my second year at the JC as a Biology Major pre-med. I was born in Iran and moved to Santa Rosa with my family when I was 5 years old, where I have grown and lived for the past 14 years and counting. After graduating high school in the summer of 2022, I began taking JC classes the following fall, though I already had some experience through dual enrolling during high school. I am currently Co-Officer of the Biology club here on campus, where other Co-Officers and I have helped arrange a diverse variety of events, of which include field trips, guest talks, volunteering, presenting to audiences at the North Bay Discovery Day, and Bio-Club involvement into on-campus events like Green Living Day, and the upcoming Earth day and Climate action night, the latter of which I am currently planning on presenting as a participant as well. Though my major is biology, I have many other interests as well, including both other STEM subjects and the social sciences. On the latter, I am especially passionate, as I try to constantly read books and articles and discuss with my peers subjects such as sociology, philosophy, economic history, political science, health ethics, and more, and love hunting in our library for texts on these subjects. The reason I mentioned all these fields is that they are often intervened in their presences, and are also crucial for sustainability efforts to truly be impactful. One of my favorite books is Pathologies of Power by Dr. Paul Farmer, and in that text he goes over the unfortunate impact of social inequality on health outcomes and advocates for socially-conscious medical advocacy in response, and I believe similar socially aware ideas have to be factored in sustainability efforts.

Student Trustee

Anthony Spinozzi (i) (Advocacy Alliance)

Anthony Spinozzi Photo

My fellow students, I stand before you as a candidate for Student Trustee. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to represent and serve the diverse needs of our student body. As a current member of the SGA, I firmly believe that education is not merely a path to opportunity; it’s the very bedrock of our society. It’s our duty to ensure that every student, regardless of background or circumstance, has access to the resources and support they need to succeed. One pressing issue that demands our attention is the expansion of parking facilities on our campus. This is not just about making the daily commute easier; it‘s about alleviating stress and enhancing the overall accessibility of our campus for all students and staff. If elected as your Student Trustee, I pledge to seek practical solutions to improve parking availability and efficiency. Our mission does not end there. We must also strive to enhance the overall student experience by advocating for improved mental health resources, raising awareness about mental health issues, and ensuring accessible disability services for all who require them. We must stand in solidarity with returning and first-generation students, bolster career development programs, and promote financial literacy initiatives. Furthermore, we must improve access to evening classes for students facing scheduling constraints, increase campus events to foster a vibrant and engaging environment, and fortify initiatives aimed at student retention. Lastly, we must advocate for an increase in the student minimum wage, ensuring that all students receive fair compensation for their hard work. My fellow students, I am energized and inspired by the opportunity to serve as your Student Trustee. Together, we can collaborate with students, faculty, and administration for positive change at SRJC. Let us work hand in hand towards a brighter future for all students.

As a returning student, I understand the journey of turning dreams into a reality. My pursuit towards higher education has been shaped by resilience, determination, and a commitment to fostering growth. Now, I seek the opportunity to serve as your Student Trustee, a role where I can amplify your voices and champion your needs.

My journey began with a Winery Harvest Internship in California, which re-ignited my passion for learning. Despite the challenges of residency and a pandemic, I am grateful to stand here today, back on campus, ready to contribute to our community in meaningful ways.

I believe in leading by example. While my presence may not scream "leadership" in the traditional sense, I see it as an opportunity to inspire others. I am committed to being a beacon of encouragement for those navigating the uncertainties of higher education.

My platform revolves around the idea of ‘Looking to the Future’. I am dedicated to organizing resources for prospective students and ensuring a supportive environment for all, regardless of background or ability. I advocate for inclusive resources, celebrate our individual journeys, and strive to foster unity among us.

But I can't do this alone. I need your support, your ideas, and your enthusiasm. Together, we can shape a brighter future for SRJC, where every student feels valued and empowered to succeed.

Join me in this journey towards a more inclusive and approachable campus. Together, let's build a community where every voice is heard and every dream is within reach.

Thank you for considering me as your Student Trustee. Let's make a difference—together.
