The West African Dance Club is a student-led club dedicated to celebrating the richness and diversity of African cultures across the globe. A collective space where students explore the powerful traditions of the West African Diaspora through dance, drumming, music, and art. Our united mission is to: ignite conversations, foster understanding, inspire and learn through dance, music, art and community engagement. Through hands-on art projects, immersive dance workshops with professional companies, masterclasses with renowned drummers, and talks from cultural leaders and artists, we aim to build bridges between the past and present, rhythm and movement, history and imagination. From just curious to experienced dancer, drummer, or learner: every Body is welcome and every Body is celebrated.

At the heart of our work is a commitment to creating a safe, inclusive space where students can explore the powerful traditions of the West African Diaspora. Through the hands-on art projects, immersive dance workshops with professional companies, masterclasses with renowned drummers, and talks from cultural leaders and artists, we aim to build bridges between the past and present, rhythm and movement, history and imagination. Everyone is welcome and included. We create with the ancient African saying in mind: "If you can walk,...you can dance. If you can talk... you can sing" and everything in between. Our vision is to cultivate a community where creativity, culture, and curiosity intersect - where students of all backgrounds can connect through the shared language of art, movement, and music.
