About the Talk: The right to vote has always been contested in America, as evidenced by the history of voter suppression following Reconstruction. The period was marked by triumphs and tragedies that collectively worked to usher in a century of Black sovereignty as well as legal and extralegal expression of racism that sought to deny political power of African Americans.

Join Dr. Scott as she explores the history of voter suppression and the future of voter empowerment in America as we work to create a just and inclusive democracy. This will be an interactive lecture.
