AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) CLUB

The mission of the SRJC ASL Club is to promote awareness and understanding of Deaf Culture and American Sign Language (ASL). We hope to create a safe space where all ASL users--d/Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing alike can interact, learn from, and support each other.  We educate students, faculty, and our community about the Deaf community by giving them access to a supportive learning environment at our events and club meetings.

Another huge focus of the ASL Club is to support our local Deaf community and the broader Deaf community by being advocates and allies.  Our club is not here to make ASL a language for the hearing, instead we are here to encourage and support those who show an interest in learning to sign, and to promote a deeper connection to the people and community that make ASL such a beautiful language.

Students for Socialism and Liberation

Capitalism is on a collision course with the people of the world and the planet itself. Imperialist war; deepening unemployment andSSL Logo poverty; deteriorating health care, housing and education; racism; exploitation of immigrants; discrimination and violence based on gender and sexual orientation; environmental destruction—all are products of the capitalist system. We fight for a socialist transformation of society through student activism: we engage in community organizing, host guest speakers, and educate ourselves on how we can create a more just society.
