Student President
Matthew Coronado (i) (The Spice Cabinet)
Hello, my name is Matthew Valentino Coronado. I'm a kinesiology major, a former cheer captain, current Vice President of Student Life for Petaluma, youth mentor at the Boys and Girls Club, and a proud first-generation American, first-generation college student, DRD student, and member of the LGBTQ+ community.
This year, I’ve worked hard in student government to uplift student voices and build stronger, more inclusive spaces from a Know Your Rights event to a Puente Dance. Now, I’m running for Student Body President to represent and connect all five of our campuses: Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Roseland, the Training Center, and Shone Farm.
As president, I will aim to: Bring in successful initiatives from other HSI-designated colleges, so our campus reflects the values, culture, and student support seen at top Hispanic-Serving Institutions; Address DRD service concerns to support students of all abilities; Bridge the gap between students and athletics, building community through spirit and involvement; Create inclusive, culturally relevant events like Day of the Oaks where everyone feels welcomed and celebrated; Promote new and old campus resources, ending confusion and making help easy to find; Advocate for student-centered necessities like sleeping pods, more study spaces, and healthier food; Connect with students living in the dorms to make sure they feel included in campus life and decision-making; Connect student life and athletics to boost Bear Cub spirit a former cheerleader, one of my goals
I’m a young activist, a cheerleader at heart, and a leader who shows up for our community with passion and purpose.
Vote Matthew Coronado for Student Body President.

My name is Bruno Brena Cruz, and I am a first-generation, first-year student at Santa Rosa Junior College. Coming from an immigrant family, I am pursuing a career in Health Sciences with a focus on nutrition and plan to become a registered dietitian, complemented by a minor in agriculture. I have had the privilege of serving as the vice president of the Espejo de mi Alma dance club and am actively involved in ESL MOVES, which assists students in navigating their needs on campus.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I have established a personal car detailing business, where I oversee all operational aspects, from detailing to management coordination. I dedicate my free time to volunteer work with San Vicente de Paul Charities, demonstrating my commitment to serving those in need in our community. I also have a strong interest in boxing and am eager to learn more about our community's needs.
I am applying for the position of student body president because I believe I can effect meaningful change for our students. My vision aligns with the mission and values of Santa Rosa Junior College, aiming to enhance the student experience. I intend to advocate for those in need on campus by establishing food pantries, housing opportunities, and financial resources. I will be walking around campus, connecting with students to understand their unique challenges and ensure that everyone has access to the resources available at our school. Recognizing that each student faces unique challenges, I am here to listen, advocate, and represent the diverse voices of our college community.

Yi Chang Liu (Kerry) (Dream Chasers)
Hello students! I’m Yi-Chang Liu, but many of you know me as Kerry. I immigrated to the U.S. in 2021 and began my journey as a sophomore in high school, knowing little-to-no English. I managed to graduate early, earning two senior awards and being nominated as a track and field team captain. Currently, I am a civil engineering major and plan to get a bachelor's degree and specialize in sustainable infrastructure. During my time at SRJC, I constantly appreciate the uniqueness and individuality that the student body possesses. I am proudly Taiwanese/Filipino and treasure the diversity at the JC. Recently, I have been selected to participate as a Peer Mentor for the MESA program, where I have the opportunity to support first-generation low-income STEM students in various capacities, such as with on-campus resources, showing them around, and integrating them into the SRJC community. That being said, I aim to build a supportive community where people can embrace their identity.
As a bi-cultural first-generation college student, I believe having a supportive community is crucial for student success. I am determined to create an easy-to-navigate college life and give a voice to underrepresented students. I believe leadership starts with listening. My journey has taught me the importance of belonging, and that’s exactly what I want to build for all students at SRJC. As your Student Body President, I will work to create a safer, more supportive, and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and heard. Having gone through higher education as a first-generation immigrant myself, I’m passionate about making sure no one feels like they’re on this journey alone. If elected, I pledge to advocate for expanding resources, strengthening student support programs, and improving campus accessibility, allowing students the opportunity to focus on their academic, professional, and personal goals.

Tiffany Nguyen (Student Unity Alliance)
Hello everyone! My name is Tiffany Nguyen, and I’m proud to be the first-generation Asian American student in my family to pursue higher education. I’m majoring in Business Economics with minors in Math and Finance. I currently serve as the VP of Marketing for Student Government, and President of Rotaract Club (Rotary International). Additionally, I’m employed at Ace It Academy as a Math Instructor. My leadership experience includes co-chairing mental health events, fundraising for clubs, participating in hiring committees, and promoting school programs. But above all, I’m advocating for students and making sure students always feel safe, welcomed, and heard at SRJC.
I’m running for Student Body President because I believe in the power of student voices, especially those often unheard. I want to use my hard work and care to inspire girls in STEM, non-English-speaking students, and students with disabilities to be proud of themselves and keep pushing toward their goals. If elected, I’ll work hard to expand access to mental health resources, build a campus where students support each other and celebrate their cultures, and ensure student leaders reflect the diversity of our campus.
Together, I believe we can build a more connected, inclusive, and empowering student body. Thank you so much for your support! Vote for me for 2025 Student Body President.
William Garcia (Voices of Power)
My name is William Garcia, and I am a proud student at Santa Rosa Junior College, currently on the path toward the Nursing program. One of my greatest passions is to advocate for the dignity and value that every student at this institution deserves. I firmly believe that everyone has the right to think, to be, and to act, as long as our actions do not harm others.
SRJC has been my home for several years. I began by taking non-credit ESL classes, and since then, I have walked a long path filled with growth, learning, and the opportunity to meet wonderful people. This institution has left a deep mark on my life, and now it would be the greatest honor to give back by representing this academic community that has given me so much.
As a student leader, I want to ensure that our voices are heard—the voices of international students, non-traditional students, and all those who have ever felt invisible or overlooked. I believe in leadership rooted in empathy, inclusion, and action.
I leave you with a quote from the great author Paulo Coelho that reflects the spirit of my journey: “It is the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”
Thank you for considering me as your representative. Let’s keep building a campus where every dream has the chance to become reality.
Executive Vice President
As your candidate for Executive Vice President of Legislation, it is my honor to run for student government.
I come from a place of experience. I have led numerous clubs throughout my high school and college careers. I was President of my Interact Club in high school, and am the Vice President of the Rotaract Club. I also have prior experience with dealing with legislation as well as the technical knowledge for the position of Executive V.P. I currently serve as an advisor to the Calistoga City Council, where similar rules for action are in place, like those in SGA. In this position, I have helped with writing legislation and keep track of State and Federal legislation that will affect the city, like I would as Executive V.P.
What’s more, with my experience, I stand for an open process--wanting to make our student governmental processes cleaner, fairer, and more equitable for all. I pledge to be transparent and accessible to every student, hear their concerns, and represent them.
Remember this as you cast your vote, let's keep SGA working for SRJC!

Ben Alcantar (Voices of Power)
Hello everyone, my name is Ben Acantar, and I am honored to stand before you as a candidate for the Executive Vice President of Legislation. My journey at Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) has been anything but traditional. I began my educational path later in life, which posed unique challenges in navigating the complexities of the academic system. However, I am proud to share that since starting my journey here at SRJC, I have successfully completed all my English as a Second Language (ESL) courses, earned my GED, obtained a real estate license, and fulfilled my General Education requirements, along with the prerequisites for the radiology program. My ambition doesn’t stop here; I’m on track to transfer to Sonoma State University to pursue a major in Sociology.
Throughout my time at SRJC, I have witnessed firsthand the struggles many students face daily. This inspired my classmates and me to establish a club called ESL Moves, dedicated to ensuring that all students feel informed, included, and aware of the various resources SRJC offers for their academic success. Our mission is clear: No student should be left behind. When individuals fall through the cracks of the educational system, we risk losing the potential leaders of our community.
As your EVP, I am committed to advocating for equal opportunities and treatment for all students, particularly marginalized and non-credit students who often feel undervalued and overlooked. The lack of awareness about available resources at SRJC is a significant barrier that can derail students from their educational paths. I recognize that I don’t have all the answers, but I am eager to give my best in this role and work tirelessly to ensure that every student’s voice is heard and valued. Together, we can build a more inclusive and supportive community at SRJC. Thank you
Riva Timalsina (Dream Chasers)
My name is Riva Timalsina; I am honored to announce my candidacy for Executive Vice President. As a first-generation college student and woman of color pursuing a degree in nursing, I understand the challenges of navigating this chapter of our lives. I know the value of hard work and the support of a community that truly listens. I want to be a voice for all students, especially those who may feel underrepresented or unheard. I come with a unique perspective. I was raised in Nepal, a country rich in diversity and culture. Growing up in such a vibrant environment, I learned early the importance of understanding inclusivity, as it allows me to bridge gaps and build meaningful connections with students from all backgrounds.
In addition, I currently serve as a Peer Assisted Learning Specialist (PALS), assisting students in English 1A class. I focus on ensuring students’ academic success, supporting students and connecting them with faculty. I have learned how impactful it is when we work together and have a support system built for students by students. I would like to extend this beautiful bridge to every student by advocating for resources, creating more opportunities for student involvement, and ensuring everyone’s voice is heard.
My mom is an English teacher in Nepal. Her passion for education and dedication to her students has taught me the importance of empathy and the transformative power of education. I want to carry this commitment and dedication.
I offer a fresh perspective and an unwavering commitment to student success. I will work tirelessly to ensure that all voices are heard, cultivate a sense of belonging for students, and provide a safe and inclusive space during these difficult times. Together, we can create a campus where every student feels valued, included, and supported.
Reynalda Joy Cruz (The Spice Cabinet)
Hello, my name is Reynalda Joy Cruz. I am from Round Valley and proudly belong to the Pomo, Lakota, Sioux, and Mixteca tribes. My Lakota name, Tipi-Luta-Win, means “Red Tipi Woman.”
Growing up Indigenous in Napa, California, I often felt unseen, but over time, I turned that feeling into a mission: they need to know me. Now, I want to bring that same energy to our student body—ensuring that every voice is heard, every culture is respected, and every student feels empowered to share their story.
As a costume designer, I strive to build cultural competency in theatre, film, and the entertainment industry, both on and off stage. I believe leadership should be just as dynamic—fresh, unexpected, and forward-thinking. As your Vice President, I will advocate for inclusivity, creativity, and meaningful representation in all aspects of campus life.
I ask for your support in making our student community a place where everyone feels seen, valued, and celebrated. Let’s create a future where we define the narrative. Vote Reynalda Joy Cruz for Student Body Vice President!
Vice President of Finance
Hector Ake Calderon (Dream Chasers)
Hello, fellow Bearcubs! My name is Hector Ake; I am a proud first-generation college student and a DACA recipient (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival) by heart. I'm pursuing a civil engineering major focusing on infrastructure design. Outside of school, I like spending my free time mountain biking, hiking, and freshwater fishing. The town of Santa Rosa has plenty of spots to conduct these activities. Besides being buried alive with assignments, I establish a time for my family and me to enjoy our carne asada. My credentials for the marketing role would include experience in retail investing from a small personal account that I've been running for 5 years. I keep myself informed of trends and business strategies that can influence the stock market by researching and keeping up with policies and analytical data. The SRJC has always been my second home away from home. The communities and student life here at SRJC have significantly and positively impacted my life. Being part of programs like EOPS, MESA, Avanzando(HSI) and DREAM center has given me a sense of belonging at SRJC.
My goal is to do the same for other bear cubs and provide them with inclusivity where they have enough resources to continue their education. I pledge to continue any programs created by previous bear cubs like the student investing program that will hit all-time highs, improving the benefits of the cub cards off/on campus, and minimizing the cost for students while supporting important student life, like basic needs, events, and scholarships for students.
Vice President of Clubs - Santa Rosa
Diego Roman (The Spice Cabinet)
Hello everybody my name is Diego I was born in Arecibo Puerto Rico and I’m running for vice president of clubs I just want everyone in a club to have proper representation and to make sure that ICC meetings are running smoothly and efficiently and most importantly to bring a smile to people’s faces. I would love to be your vice president of clubs so please vote for me :)
Hi all, my name is Simone Rae, and I am running to be the Vice President of Clubs for the Santa Rosa campus. I am currently finishing my first year at the Junior College and dual-majoring in English and Education, intending to someday earn a Doctorate & go on to become a professor. As somebody who has been a part of clubs their entire educative career, I became interested in the work that running a successful club takes. I am now the president of the on-campus literary club, Vitae Lampada (Torch of Life), and I hope to take part in marrying the betterment of Student Life with club activities; the raise in volume of club events would both increase the popularity of club membership and allow clubs to shine at their fullest potential.
As somebody who has taken part in club leadership for two semesters, I understand the importance of strong leadership, cohesive teamwork, and event organization. I have planned several club events, from basic meetings to open-mic events & published leaflets. I also have worked full-time in managerial positions for several years, which exemplifies my capabilities at juggling several responsibilities. These opportunities have allowed me to understand both the hands-on perspective of clubs and the extensive work it takes to oversee things of that nature. I would love to be your Vice President of Clubs and be able to represent the hard work that goes into each club!
Thank you for your consideration,
Simone Rae
Vice President of Clubs - Petaluma
Dear Student Body,
As a first-year college student who has been out in the workforce for a while, choosing to go to SRJC was both exciting and nerve-wracking. I am not originally from this area of CA, and didn't know anyone from this school. I managed to go to Welcome Day on my lunch break from my last job to take the tour. My first impression was, wow, is this school big? I dove in head first and collaborated with other students to start an Art Club before ever stepping foot on this campus, because I knew I wanted to be part of a community and experience the most I could from the “College Experience”. We not only fundraised for our club, but for charities and causes in our local community and won the Best New Club Award for Fall 2024 from ICC.
This semester I’ve focused more on learning about SGA. There is so much offered at this school and a lot I am still figuring out. I’ve had my share of ups and downs on campus. I feel that we as a school have done great things, and we could do so much more to improve our processes. There are multiple departments and resources that provide support that I wish were better communicated or advertised to students. Some I have used or are currently navigating.
I’m quiet most times (until I’m not), overthinking, opinionated, sometimes stubborn and I have my share of struggles that I'm working through. I'm also caring, understanding, patient, supportive, creative, and very passionate about whatever I do. I’m not perfect, but I do have thoughts, opinions, and a voice that I’d like to share if you give me the opportunity and privilege to be your VP of Clubs at the Petaluma Campus.

Vice President of Student Life - Santa Rosa
Marissa Molinero (Dream Chasers)
Hello! My name is Marissa Molinero, and I am a first-generation Latina student as well as a woman in STEM since I’m majoring in Civil Engineering. I plan to specialize in structures and earn a Bachelor's degree. Being a first-generation student I had no knowledge of how to navigate college, but I’ve had the pleasure of being involved with various clubs and programs that have aided me in my educational journey. For reference, I’m currently a part of several programs, which include, MESA, the HSI Stem Initiative-Avanzando, and EOPS. I’ve also participated in the engineering club (TEC) and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). With the support from the programs I’m involved with, led me to become a liaison of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) where I was available to provide guidance to Hispanic students in STEM and ensure that students are aware of resources and club activities. The experience of working at a tax firm as a receptionist strengthened my communication skills and extended my network allowing me to make stronger connections.
I’m running for the position of Vice President of Student Life at the Santa Rosa campus. My goal is to uphold and uplift the sense of community on campus. By being in several programs, I was able to witness the sense of community that I didn’t know was there. I’ve grown to love the community here and I want to make sure that everyone can find theirs. Whether it be through clubs, programs, or meeting new people at events, I want the opportunity to be present. Since most students spend a considerable amount of time at the JC, having a friendly environment can bolster their experience. If elected, I pledge to further heighten the harmony between education and leisure. Thank you for your time.
Cynthia Valdivia (i) (The Spice Cabinet)
Hey Bear Cubs! My name is Cynthia Valdivia, and I'm so excited to be running for Vice President of Student Life at the Santa Rosa campus. I love all things relating to organizing and planning.
I had the opportunity to be appointed to this position for the end of the 24-25 school year and it has been great to learn more about what’s possible for us on campus.
I’ve held many leadership roles in the past and I’m passionate about community involvement. I'm excited to bring energy and ideas to SRJC. I believe that the key to a positive college experience happens in a vibrant and inclusive campus culture where every student feels valued and empowered to succeed. If elected as your Vice President of Student Life, I'm committed to amplifying student voices, creating a sense of belonging, and organizing engaging events and activities that tend to the diverse interests of our student body.
I’ve noticed the lack of involvement in recent years and want to figure out what’s holding us back from coming together as students.
From advocating for educational justice to working with local representatives, I want to give back and make a positive impact. I understand the importance of collaboration and teamwork in achieving our collective goals, and I'm ready to work alongside SGA, students, faculty, and staff to create meaningful change at SRJC.
With that, I ask for your support and trust in this upcoming election. Together, let's build back our campus to celebrate diversity, promote student success, and enrich our college experience.

My goal is to make student life at SRJC more vibrant, inclusive, and exciting for every student. I want to create events and activities that reflect all the amazing diversity on our campus, and make sure every voice has a place to shine. From fun socials to helpful resources and real conversations, I’ll work hard to make sure no one feels left out.

Vice President of Student Life - Petaluma
Hi Bear Cubs!
My name is Devon Gramajo, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for Vice President of Student Life for the Petaluma Campus. While this is my first time running for a school leadership position, I am no stranger to student affairs.
During high school, I served as Vice President of the MEChA Club, where I led efforts to establish a Multicultural Festival; a fundraising event designed to celebrate cultural diversity while supporting all student clubs. The event was such a success that it became an official school rally, and I took the lead in organizing engaging activities to ensure that every student felt included. I hope to bring a similar event or at least the same spirit of inclusivity and representation to SRJC.
In addition to my leadership in MEChA, I was also the Founder and President of my high school's Tutoring Club, which provided free peer-to-peer academic support. My passion for education continues at SRJC, where I am currently a Bioinformatics major (a blend of biology and computer science). I work at the Petaluma Welcome and Connect Center. Through my position there, I have had the privilege of engaging with students from all backgrounds, further deepening my love for the Petaluma campus community.
While I am deeply passionate about STEM, I recognize and celebrate the excellence found across all academic disciplines. As Vice President of Student Life, I will strive to be a representative for all students, advocating for a campus environment that is inclusive, supportive, and engaging. I am eager to bring new ideas, collaborate with my peers, and make SRJC Petaluma an even better place for everyone.
Thank you for your time and consideration—I look forward to the opportunity to serve you!

I recently graduated from high school, where I was part of the video bulletin team tasked with promoting clubs on campus. Hello. My name is Olivia Esparza, and I am a first-generation MESA student at Santa Rosa Junior College.
As a first-generation Latina, I have experienced first-hand how difficult it can be to navigate college when you are part of an underrepresented community. I grew up in the Roseland district and was lucky enough to have teachers and community members who advocated for me. I understand how important it is to have access to resources that can be crucial for some of us. I believe that my experiences as a first-generation Latina provide me with valuable insights on just how important diversity and inclusivity are.
As your Vice President of Diversity, I will ensure every student of the Santa Rosa Junior College feels welcome, safe, and supported. My goal is to promote inclusivity by creating an environment where students can have an open dialogue to ensure a sense of belonging, hosting events to celebrate the culture around us, and promoting collaboration with different communities through education. This will also allow students and faculty to gain a deeper understanding of more complex global issues. I will advocate for policies that support diversity within the college. As well as also ensure every student is receiving equitable support regardless of their background. Ensuring we have a college where diversity is celebrated will enrich our education and prepare students for a diverse world. It is more important now than ever to create a safe environment where students feel accepted and valued.
I am someone who will advocate for us students and make sure our voices are heard, and I am dedicated to creating a difference through activism. I believe in building a strong, welcoming & diverse community.
Vote Olivia Esparza for Vice President of Diversity
To begin, I would like to express to you my awareness about how the Student Government position, Vice President of Diversity is NOT about me alone or about you alone. It is about ALL of us binding together as a whole without sacrificing our individual selves.
It is about strengthening the foundation which was laid here for the students who would follow.
In case you don’t believe your voice is important or has value, I’ll say this…it doesn’t matter how you got here. What is important is, you ARE here. We all come from diverse pasts, cultures, teachings, and foundations. The beauty of diversity is our unique intricate details.
Your voice counts,,,it has importance, meaning and purpose. I respect and appreciate you. I want to help spread awareness to our communities, both on and off campus. I want to help by being an active participant in implementing solutions designed to create and embed lasting change. The kind of change with the purpose of helping all of you feel more welcomed, safe, and respected. Which, in turn, instills within you the feeling of belonging.
Let’s stand together! Let’s be the change that encourages, inspires, and motivates us to exercise inclusion not only in our personal interactions but also in the interactions in our communities. Every person deserves to be seen, has the right to self-expression without repercussion, and certainly must be granted the freedom to voice their truth without being stigmatized, stereotyped, judged, belittled, minimized, and dismissed. Let’s find out what we can do when we embrace our similarities. Together.
"Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything."

Vice President of Student Health
Connor Murray (Acorn Alliance)
Hi Bearcubs! My name is Connor Murray, and I am a current Philosophy major on the Pre-Med Track. I am thrilled to be running for VP of Student Health for the 2025-2026 school year. I believe that good health is the cornerstone of success for all students and that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn't really work for everybody.
My main goal is to work with our other SGA members to raise awareness for the health and wellness programs on campus and listen to the needs of students to fill any gaps I may be unaware of. Did you know that as credit-enrolled students, you have access to six FREE therapy sessions a semester? How about lower-cost nurse and physician clinics right here on campus?
If elected, I will work tirelessly to make all students heard and cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. I am an active supporter of the Queer, Disabled, Indigenous, Latino, and other underrepresented communities. Lastly, I will use my background in finance to secure the funding Student Health Services and other initiatives need and deserve.
Thank you for your support!
Hello everyone! My name is Tsering, and I’m a proud second-year student at SRJC majoring in Radiologic Technology. As a first-generation Nepali American and co-president of the Asian Pacific Islander Women in STEM (APIWS) club, I’m passionate about creating an inclusive campus where every student, no matter their background, age, gender, and race, feels seen, heard, and supported.
Like many of you, my journey hasn’t been a straight path. I came to SRJC after facing unexpected challenges and transitions. Coming from Nepal, adjusting to a new culture, language, and education system wasn’t easy. But these experiences helped me recognize the importance of mental health, access to resources, and having a strong community to lean on. And along the way, I discovered the power of community and the importance of student advocacy.
If elected, I’ll work to expand resources for all students and improve access to mental health support, and I want to make sure all the students feel like they belong and have the tools to access better healthcare. SRJC has been a place of growth for me, and I’m excited for the opportunity to give back.

Vice President of Sustainability
Hello my fellow SRJC people! My name is Aria Balador, and I am running for a second term as Vice President of Sustainability on the Student Government. I am a Biology major pursuing a medical path and am currently in my third year as an SRJC student. I was born in Iran and moved to America when I was 5 years old; now 20 years old, I have lived in Santa Rosa ever since, and have come to know the city deeply over the years. Santa Rosa Junior College has been a bedrock of this community for as long as I can remember, providing me and countless others with important opportunities.
I have been involved in the leadership of the Biology Club for almost 2 years, serving in both co-presidential and secretarial roles. Additionally, I have served as a co-president of the Political Science Club for nearly two semesters. During this time, my colleagues and I have helped manage numerous events and initiatives for the greater SRJC community. My Biology Club experience has been particularly significant because of its connection to sustainability. I had the opportunity to volunteer at butterfly reserves and help plan Earth Day, which gave me valuable insights for my first term in office. Likewise, as a daily user of public transit, I realized how vital sustainable infrastructure is to our student life, and this has motivated me to improve and expand these features.
During my first term, I contributed to advancing our campus sustainability efforts by planning and promoting events like Green Living Day and Week Without Driving. I also wrote a resolution to advocate for free student access to greater transit options. In my second term, I will work to beautify our campus through mural promotion, continue transit improvement, and organize more sustainability-focused events.
Student Trustee
Howdy! My name is Mason Koski, and I’m running to be your Student Trustee, because like many of you, I’m worried about our future, and I want to do something about it.
I’m a 21 year old, Queer, Mixed-Race, Middle Class, First-Gen, Learning Challenged; Student, Activist, and Person just trying to get by. I don’t mention that to check any boxes, but rather to acknowledge that I deeply understand a lot of what members of our community have been feeling the past few months. Whether it be attacks on our Trans & Non-Binary Siblings or Immigrant Family Members, or on Student Loans or Access to Food, Shelter, and Affordable Healthcare; it is beyond difficult to witness even when you try to give back.
I’ve always known whatever I wanted to do in life, was to give back to other people, which is why I’ve been in the various positions I’ve held. But even then, it’s beyond tough to come up with answers for how to solve these problems. But I’m throwing my hat into this race, because the Student Trustee is there to be the Voice of the Student Body to our Governing Board. And as we’ve seen with everything at Sonoma State that's a pretty important voice to have. I believe that my knowledge, experience, relationships, and empathy make me well suited to ensure the needs, wants, concerns, beliefs, and ideals of SRJC is being represented, and that the Admin & Trustees know it's y’all who they are serving. I want to try and solve these problems we’re facing with all of y’all, taking what I’ve learned and what y’all know, and making this school a better place for everyone Liberal Arts, STEM, Trade, Adult Ed alike.
I hope I can earn the privilege of your vote and support.
Kaya Clark (Student Unity Alliance)
Hello students of SRJC! My name is Kaya Clark, and I'm a first-year economics major dedicated to serving as your Student Trustee.
My journey here, recently moving from my childhood state of Washington, has been one of discovery and tenacity, and a profound pivot in my life. This move sparked rapid personal growth, teaching me how to embrace adaptability in a new environment. I’ve seen first-hand the incredible strength of our student body, but also the pressing needs we face: financial strain, transportation, and the persistent barriers to accessibility. As a self-supporting and independent student, these challenges aren't abstract; they're my reality too.
My experience as a student leader, including my roles as our current Vice President of Diversity and Inter-Club Council Treasurer, has shown me that leadership is about the impact of creating meaningful change throughout our community, not just by the titles we hold. I’m committed to guiding a dynamic environment where every student not only has the opportunity to succeed but also the unwavering support to do so. This means advocating for financial literacy programs to help students make educated decisions about their future, improving transportation to Shone Farm so that commuting is reliable and smoother for everyone, and proposing a Student Mentorship Program to pair new students with experienced peers, ensuring they feel connected and supported throughout their college journey. Lastly, I’m dedicated to fostering transparency between us students and our board, ensuring your voices are heard and valued in decision-making processes. I believe we can make our campus more inclusive, connected, and empowering for all students, and with your support, we can bring this vision to life. I would be honored to have your vote to make these changes happen.
Thank you!

Constitutional Amendment
Vice President of Resident Life Amendment Proposal
Should the students of Santa Rosa Junior College amend the Student Constitution to add the position of Vice President of Resident Life to the Student Government Assembly to represent the needs of the students living in on-campus housing?
In Spring 2025, Student Government Assembly voted to sponsor an amendment to the Santa Rosa Junior College Student Constitution to add the officer position of Vice President of Residence Life. To officially add this new position to Student Government Assembly, the student body must vote to approve the constitutional amendment with a two-thirds majority of all ballots cast in the Spring 2025 Student Election.
If approved, this position would be vacant to start the 2025-2026 Student Government Assembly term, and the newly elected SGA will have the opportunity to appoint a student to the position for the remainder of the year. The position would then be up for election starting in Spring 2026.
